The
PugMaster Classic Moisture
Control System was developed initially for the brick
industry. This
system measures two large variables (moisture content and feed rate)
and controls addition of water required to reach a desired extruded material moisture
content. With the addition of peripheral controls we can also
control raw material feed
rate and liquid or dry additives as a ratio of the
"Dry Raw Material Feed Rate". We
also control the disposal of Waste Liquids (wash down water, slurries, vacuum pump
condensate) to the Pug Mill while maintaining desired moisture control.
This installation is at Hanson Brick's Monroe, North Carolina
Plant
The chart below shows a two hour graph of moisture control.
The Blue Straight Line
is our setpoint for Column Moisture. The Black Line is the actual
calculated value for
column moisture. The Gold line shows variation in incoming raw clay
moisture. The
blue line is the controlled addition of water to the pugmill.
